Jewelry design flow & sacred shapes

Inspiring Shapes

I've been at work in the studio coming up with some new designs for this fall, and have been drawing a lot of inspiration from my yoga practice at Laughing River Yoga. Many of my designs contain an underlying motif, symbol, or material that has a deeper meaning to it. Right now it is Sacred Geometries, beautifully proportioned geometrical shapes with complex repeating patterns within them. I think there's something really powerful about adorning yourself with a physical symbol of an intention that you hold, something you can carry with you and be reminded of each time you wear it and feel it.
Finding my flow...

My design process starts with an idea, sketching, creating stamps, prototyping with Precious Metal Clay, hammering, filing, trying different versions, and then seeing how these pieces can play with other elements like crystals, chains, and hoops. It's a little like yoga where sometimes things just flow easily, and sometimes you need to be more mindful in your deliberate practice. I love the quote: "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working".

I'm excited to share new designs with you soon. In the meantime, I'm partnering with Laughing River Yoga for the month of September. You can use the code JK30 to get $30 off of a 5-class pack (both in-studio and online classes) this month! Their newsletter subscribers will also be getting a 20% off code to use on my jewelry.
