Artemis Necklace with Moonstone- Brass

My "Artemis" collection was inspired by the Greek Goddess of hunting, the wilderness and wild animals!
Artemis, in ancient Greek religion, was the goddess of wild animals, the hunt, vegetation and of chastity and childbirth. (She was identified by the Romans as Diana.) Artemis was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and was the twin sister of Apollo. Among the rural populace, Artemis was the favorite goddess! Her character and function varied greatly from place to place but behind all forms lay the goddess of wild nature who danced, usually accompanied by nymphs in mountains, forests, and marshes. Artemis embodied the sportsman’s ideal, so besides hunting game she also protected game, especially the young; this was the Homeric significance of the title "Mistress of Animals".

Artemis is most often depicted with a hunting bow.

Equal parts feminine and badass warrior, my design for the Artemis earrings and necklaces features a hammered brass curved "bow", with Rainbow Moonstone in line forming the "string". The earrings feature oxidized sterling silver chains draped below the bow, mimicking the energy of the movement of a drawn and released bowstring. Silver heishi beads move freely along the bow, mimicking the arrow guide.

Moonstone is said to be a stone for “new beginnings”, as well as inner growth and strength. It soothes emotional instability and stress and stabilizes emotions, providing a sense of calmness. It also promotes inspiration and enhances intuition and success and good fortune in love and business matters. A perfect stone to start out the New Year!

The width of the "string" of moonstone is 1 3/16" wide, the "bow" is 1 1/4" wide x 1 1/2" tall. 16-18" Adjustable oxidized sterling chain.
